Ever wish you could write poetry but weren't sure where to begin? Join us for an inspiring and playful workshop where we'll discover how to weave words into beautiful imagery, rhythm, and rhyme. Two weeks later, we'll reunite at Local Color Stage for a special community poetry performance!

About the event
Poetry isn't about following rules—it's about noticing the beauty, wonder, humor, heartbreak, and magic hidden in everyday life.
In this welcoming, beginner-friendly workshop, we'll explore simple techniques for transforming thoughts, memories, and emotions into poetry that sings. Together we'll experiment with imagery, metaphor, rhythm, rhyme, and unexpected word combinations that create beauty on the page. Through guided exercises, prompts, and gentle encouragement, you'll discover that poetry is far more accessible than most people imagine.
Whether you've written poetry for years or have never written a single line, this class is designed to help you find your unique voice and gain confidence in expressing it.
Then, two weeks later, we'll gather once again at Local Color Stage for a warm and supportive poetry performance where participants will have the opportunity to share their work aloud. Participation in the performance is encouraged but never required.
